Cultural Appropriation

Many people believe that there is no spirituality, ceremony, or sacred ways on their own lineage, so they believe they need to “take” it from others.

Many of us have deep appreciation and deep soul resonance with other lineages that are not our own blood lineages in this lifetime, that doesn't mean that we can't explore those other cultures, teachings, & ceremonies.

BUT, in order for us to do so in right relationship, we cannot take from another culture from our own wound of separation from our own ancestors' lost and forgotten ceremonies, songs, and rites.

Taking from cultures that are not our own, without permission, causes a deep harm - and when we do so, many of our own ancestors also feel grief, pain and abandonment on the other side.

To learn from other cultures, including cultures that our soul feels a resonance with & that we feel connected to from past lives, we must know our roots in this life.

To just take from another culture, even if we feel a soul resonance with it — to just do that alone — is cultural appropriation.

But when we are grounded and rooted into our own ancestors...

We know where we come from, we acknowledge our histories, and we are invited in with permission by wisdom keepers of another culture; by those who are genuinely sharing; that is when it is cultural appreciation.

While “We’re All One” is true, many BIPOC have shared the negative effects of taking from their culture without permission.

It’s important to be able to hold complexity and learn from the BIPOC folks who are wanting to awaken us with their wisdom and perspective.

We can all be one, while still understanding the importance of each culture and lineage being respected, protected, and appreciated without being appropriated.

I myself have benefitted SO MUCH from learning about other cultures + being invited into ceremonies and traditions in other cultures that are not my own.

I am eternally grateful and will be a LIFELONG student of this earth's many cultures — it's one of my deepest passions!

And, I have learned that if we are showing up to learn from other cultures from our own wound of separation from our ancestors, even if we are holding the intention to serve, it's not completely coming from a place of wholeness.

This is an invitation to center and ground into your own lineage and discover the spirituality in your own roots.

To show up in right relation in TRUE service and in TRUE remembrance to learn from other lineages.

When you remember where you come from and connect to the old ways, wisdom, spirituality, and gifts of your own roots, it decreases cultural appropriation.

Many people take from other cultures from a wound of separation.

Imagine ancient ancestors, with all their powerful prayers, ceremony, rites, traditions, and ways of honoring the sacred…

Watching you as you seek for this everywhere except within your own lineage.

No matter where your ancestors are from, there is deep wisdom, spirituality, and earth-honoring ways somewhere in your lineage.

Your ancestors ask:

“When will she remember?”

“When will she turn to us and our wisdom?”

When will she give me permission to step in and guide her in these ancient ways that live in her own blood?”

The traditions and spirituality of your own lineage and your own ancestors is one of your most powerful resources for healing and profound spiritual connection.

It is something that no other lineage can give you quite like your own.

No matter where your ancestors are from, there is deep wisdom, spirituality, and earth- honoring ways somewhere in your lineage.

You have the ability to remember - it lives in your bones.

To do your part in healing the wound of separation and cultural disconnection, connect to the profound ancient wisdom, magic, rites, traditions, stories, teachings and spirituality of your own lineage.
